GPC European Championships 2025: Acknowledgements
Dear friends, colleagues, lift fans, the GPC 2025 European Championship in Trutnov is behind us. It was 5 days full of sporting atmosphere, encouragement, friendly meetings, and fantastic sporting performances. 520 competitors from 29 countries registered for the GPC Europeans for 677 starts. From the perspective of individual disciplines, it can be stated that PWL remains very popular and interest in it is rather growing. It seems that EQ has also stopped its deccrease and new competitors are starting to appear. BP and DL maintains its standard in terms of the number of starts. Biceps as a new discipline is still on the rise. 95 competitors have already registered for Trutnov.
During the 5 days in Trutnov, 144 world and 159 continental records were set. I congratulate all the lifters on their sporting achievements.
It is not in my power to thank everyone individually, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the competitors for their participation in the GPC European Championships in Trutnov. I would also like to thank the GPC management for the opportunity to organize the championship here, it is a sign of great trust in us. A big thank you also goes to the loaders, who often competed and set the pace of the championship with their activities. The ICT service, which supplied us with information, also deserves praise. A huge thank you goes to the entire GPC referees team. In order to ensure that the competition ended within an acceptable time limit, we shortened the breaks and the "poor" judges often had to change at a trot, but they still held out and made decisions. Just for your information, around 3,000 attempts were made at the European Championships, which is 600 attempts per day, and that is the good dose for the referees, ICT and loaders. Shortening the breaks and accelerating the rhythm of the competition also had an impact on the competitors. They dealt with this excellently and started the attempts within time limits and "without comments" (smile), for which they deserve a big thank you. It is very gratifying findings that we did not experience serious health damage and that we all came together in good health at the end of the competition.
Dear friends, colleagues, fans of lifting. Thank you all for the perfect 5 days full of friendly atmosphere and adrenaline-pumping performances. Only thanks to your professional approach did we manage to go through the entire competition. It was an honor and pleasure to be there with all of you and to meet you all again at the "one" barbell. You are a great team, stick to it and build on it. I look forward to meeting you all again.
Your Libor Hurdálek and the team from Trutnov.
